5 Walks to Do During Lockdowns

We’ve all had to become a little more creative with ways to keep ourselves amused during the lockdowns. What’s more, for many of us, being shut away at home has presented a real challenge for keeping fit – and this means that going out for a walk has become more important than ever.

5 Walks to Do During Lockdowns

Daily walks during lockdown have made it possible for us to bear the restrictions, allowing us to get out in the fresh air, stretch our legs, and socialize (distanced, of course) with neighbours and friends who we may have otherwise not seen often! However, trudging around the block every day can soon get dull, and this may leave you wondering if there could be more fulfilling walks out there.
Luckily, we’ve come up with a list of the five best walks to do during Lockdown around Sydney to help you find the ideal destination for your next adventure!

#1 Bondi to Bronte

The Bondi to Bronte coastal walk is a popular choice for many and is approximately 4km in total. The walk offers stunning beach and park views and is fully paved, making it an easy and scenic walk. What’s more, this walk even passes by some of the few surviving native bush regions locally, with regeneration projects being undertaken by the Council.

#2 Hermitage Foreshore

The Hermitage Foreshore Walk is a relaxing stroll. It’s not long, at just under two kilometres, and will take roughly half an hour. The real selling point of this walk, though, has to be the ample picnic, photo, and swimming opportunities from the beaches it passes, all of which overlook the stunning Sydney harbour.

#3 Manly to Spit

The Manly to Spit walk takes 4 hours approximately and covers a distance of 10km. The walk features a gradual climb and rewards you with stunning Aboriginal rock engravings as well as incredible postcard views out over Sydney harbour at the peak.

#4 Barrenjoey Lighthouse Walk

At fourth on our list, we’ve picked the Barrenjoey Lighthouse walk, which takes approximately an hour and is 1km each way. This walk is one of the shorter ones on our list, but it more than makes up for this with its steep, sandy trail. The access trail is a little easier, although it’s still a bit of a hike – perfect if you want to get the blood pumping.

While this walk isn’t a stroll in the park, but the stunning views of Pittwater and Palm Beach make it all worth it. You’ll also see the 1800s lighthouse, which offers spectacular views over Hawkesbury River and Broken Bay. Sometimes, it’s even possible to see humpback whales from this location as they migrate south for Winter.

#5 City Walks

If you’re still stuck for ideas about where to walk in Sydney, why not go for a city walk? City walks offer something new every time and the opportunity to go shopping if you so desire. Plus, they’re not strenuous, and they’re good fun – an excellent option for a laid-back walk with friends or loved ones.
