What is the NSW Gas Rebate?

Eligibility Criteria

Reside in NSW

Hold one of the following concession cards:

Pensioner Concession Card issued by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans' Affairs

Health Care Card issued by Services Australia

Department of Veterans' Affairs Gold Card marked with 'War Widow', 'War Widower Pension', 'Totally and Permanently Incapacitated' (TPI), or 'Disability Pension' (EDA)

Have a natural gas or bottled gas (LPG) account in NSW, with the account and bill in their name

How to Apply

Applying for the NSW Gas Rebate is simple:

Confirm your eligibility and gather the necessary documents, including your Services Australia Customer Reference Number (CRN) or Department of Veterans' Affairs file number.

Contact your gas retailer and request the NSW Gas Rebate to be applied to your account.

Provide your eligible concession card details.

Verify with your retailer that the rebate has been successfully applied.

Important Information

Retail customers receive the rebate as a daily credit on each energy bill, totaling up to $110 per year. The credit is calculated from the day you apply by contacting your retailer.

If you change your gas retailer, you can continue to receive the rebate by providing your Services Australia CRN or Department of Veterans' Affairs file number to the new retailer.

Each household can receive only one NSW Gas Rebate per financial year, applicable only to the principal place of residence.

If eligible for the NSW Gas Rebate, you may also qualify for the NSW Low Income Household Rebate for your electricity account.

Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders are not eligible for this rebate and should explore eligibility for the Seniors Energy Rebate instead.
